Grounded. Real.” — 🔗 "Review: One of the best trans novels to date" - FayeBliss, Itch.io“Everything is done carefully and that care is important because this is a ludicrous concept... I would consider this series very worth my time... quite cathartic. It's very funny.” — 🎙️The Saint Almsworth Book Club podcast

Hi. I’m Kerry Ann Burke — a screenwriter, novelist, copywriter, and stand-up comedian. I write stories about survival, identity, and systems that try to erase people like me — with just enough dark humor to make it livable.I spent ten years as a senior marketing copywriter and another ten as a software engineer. In 2022, at the late age of 43, I realized I’m a trans woman. Since then, I’ve been transitioning and gradually crawling out of the wreckage. Now I write full-time, and I don’t pull punches. My debut novel, We Interrupt This Transition, is a sharp, funny, and deeply trans satire about media exploitation and gender politics. My follow-up, This Is Bat Country, is a horror-comedy vampire detective noir about trauma, found family, and cultural erasure — with bite. (Yes, it’s a trans metaphor. Just swap transgender for Transylvanian.)I was recently accepted into the M.A. in Screenwriting program at the Irish National Film School. My pilot scripts have been recognized by LGBTQ+ film festivals in Toronto and Los Angeles. I’ve also won stand-up awards in London.I don’t write safe, shallow, or centrist work. I write stories that say the quiet parts out loud. And if that makes me “too much”?Good.
